Henry Alexander McKinnon Sr. served twice as Senator for the North Carolina Eleventh District (1947 and 1949). He had been mayor of Maxton, chairman of the Robeson County Democratic Executive Committee, a member of the County Board of Education, a member of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission, and president of Maxton, Alma and Southbound railroad. As an attorney, Mr. McKinnon was the legal advisor for Robeson County Commissioners and president of the Robeson County Bar Association.
