A memorial service for Geraldine "Gerry" Rochester Shuler, 73, wife of Robert B. Shuler, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in the Nancy Freeman Stringer Memorial Chapel at The Oaks in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Terry Fleming officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at the chapel at The Oaks.
Mrs. Shuler was born in Walhalla, the daughter of the late Samuel Stiles and Mary Jones Rochester. She was a member of Santee Presbyterian Church and a former member of Elloree United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and received an MA from the University of South Carolina. She had worked for Clemson Extension Service and was retired from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. She was active in church and community activities.
Mrs. Shuler is survived by her husband of the home; two daughters, Suzanne Robinson and her husband Daniel "Danny" Robinson of Lexington and Melissa Summers and her husband Dwight "Chip" Summers Jr. of Orangeburg; four grandchildren, Spencer and Daniel Robinson, and Carolina and Mary Stack Summers; three sisters, Helen Miller of Chapel Hill, N.C., Willie Grace Barton of Seneca and Frances O'Kelley of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shuler was predeceased by a brother, Augustus Edward Rochester.
