Served in the U.S. Army during WWI, posed in his military uniform 1917. He was gassed with mustard gas while he served in France, and returned home in poor health due to the mustard gas damage to his lungs. He was working on his uncle George Washington Jory's farm in Marysville when his health took a turn for the worse and he died in 1920 at age 31.
