Daughter of Ralph ARNETTE, Sr. and Grace Viola HAYES. Married Larry Finley STORY.

Minnie Arnette Story, age 71, of Arnett Hollow Road, Vilas, died February 5th, 2015, at home. She was born June 24, 1943 in Avery County. She was a member of Baird’s Creek Baptist Church. She was a housewife, mother and seamstress. She enjoyed quilting, assembling stuffed dolls and animals, and tending her flower gardens. She enjoyed a passion for softball, playing first base for a number of years with leagues sponsored by Watauga County Parks and Recreation.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry Finley Story; four daughters, Sharon Crump and husband, Frank, of Vilas, Holly Andrews and husband, Terry, ,of Boone, Janie Dancy and husband, Ted, of Zionville, and Gail Robinson and husband, Harold, of Vilas; her son, Lee Story of Vilas; ten grandchildren, Nicole Wagoner, Amanda Crump, Jessica Hicks, Kelly Mejia, Benji Andrews, Laura Roberts, Kim Robinson Kayla, and Riley and Samantha Story; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachael, Christian, Timothy, Dustin, Jacob, Bella, and Joshua; three step-grandchildren, Teddy and Michael Dancy, and Justin Dancy and wife Jessica; three step-great grandchildren, Cindy, Seaira and Emma Katierose; sister, Linda Arnette and husband, Harry, of Banner Elk; brother, O.J. Arnette and wife, Edith, of Lenoir; and two sisters-in-law, Jean Arnette of Vilas, and Penny Arnette of Sugar Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Arnette, Sr. and Grace Hayes Arnette; three brothers, Ralph Arnette, Jr., George Arnette, Sr. and Charles E. Arnette; one great-granddaughter, Alejandra Mejia; and her grandparents, Jim and Pearl Arnette; and Orris and Minnie Oliver Hayes.

Funeral services were held at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Derick Wilson. Burial at the Arnette Family Cemetery.
