Father of Methodism in Emanuel County. Son of Francis Richard Flanders and Nancy Jordan Flanders. Brothers: John R. Flanders, Barnabus Flanders, William Flanders and Francis Eugene Flanders. Sisters: Nancy Elizabeth Flanders and Katherine Flanders. He married Mary J. Daniel, and after her death, married Sarah Thompson on March 6th 1817, who was the daughter of Reuben Thompson.
He was the Clerk of the Emanuel County Superior Court. He was an 1821 Land Lottery winner in Chason's Dist., and a soldier in the Emanuel County Militia. He and Sarah Thompson had ten children: Betty, Nancy, Francis, Katie, John, Rachael, William Arnold, Sallie and Jemima.
