Nicholas Eugene Fiscarelli, 81, went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Born in Albany, Nick was the son of the late Carlo and Mary Fiscarelli. He was a colonel at Christian Brothers Academy, class of 1951, and he graduated from Siena College in 1962. He was employed by New York State in various departments before his retirement. Nick devoted countless years of service to church and community ministries such as choir member and Eucharistic minister, the kitchen pantry at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and Friends of the Library. He participated in many cultural projects and events, and especially enjoyed sharing his love and appreciation of music with family, friends, and countless others who were blessed to meet and know him. He earned a multitude of accolades and outstanding leadership awards, too numerous to list. Nick touched hundreds of hearts with his kind, generous, and humble spirit. He loved to travel and explore the arts, and his warm and witty sense of humor is just one of many endearing attributes and talents for which he will be so lovingly remembered. Above all, Nick remained a humble servant of God from early childhood through his final days of earthly service, during which he unceasingly demonstrated remarkable courage and inspiration. Nick is so very greatly loved and our lives will be incredibly void because of his absence, until we join him in God's presence for eternity. In addition to his parents, Nick was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Carlo and Anthony, and his sister, Gloria. He is survived by three sisters, Connie Tunny (Jack) of Phoenix, Ariz., Rita Fiscarelli (formerly of Albany) and Rosemarie Pawlewski (Norman) all of Des Moines, Iowa; and many adoring nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015, from the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, thence to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, (corner of Madison Avenue and Eagle Street), Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral home on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Those who wish may send memorial contributions in Nick's memory to Cathedral Social Services, 125 Eagle St., Albany, NY 12202, or to a charity of your choice .
