Fred Ripp, 81, old and respected resident of this village for nineteen years, died at his home Thursday evening after a short illness.

Fred Ripp was born in the town of Springfield on June 10, 1864, where he grew to manhood off the farm with his parents. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Meyer [Meier] on Oct. 21, 1894, at St. Martin’s church, Martinsville by the Rev. Fr. Maly. They made their home on a farm in the town of Springfield until the fall of 1928 when they moved to this village.

Besides his widow he is survived by seven sons, John, Waunakee; Math, Dane, Anton, Middleton; Raymond, Waunakee; Alphonse and Nick, Middleton; Hubert, Waunakee; four daughters, Mrs. William Helt, Cross Plains; Mrs. Frank Ziegler, Middleton; Mrs. Al Genske, Madison, Miss Frances, Waunakee; one brother, Herman Ripp, Cross Plains; one sister, Mrs. Chris Capul, Black River Falls; forty-eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o’clock from the Ripp home and at 9:30 in St. John’s Catholic church, the Rev. Michael J. Jacobs officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Statz, Chris Brabender, Werner Ripp, Henry Laufenberg, William Laufenberg and Martin Ziegler.

Active pallbearers were six grandsons, Robert Ripp, Harold Ripp, Roman Ripp, Godfrey Helt, Ceril Ripp and, Clarence Ziegler.
