Mable Caroline Headrick, 86, died Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Lakepoint Nursing Home in Wichita, KS. She was born January 20, 1929, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Willis and Jewell Banks of Hardesty, OK.

Upon high school graduation, Mable attended Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City, OK and Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Goodwell, OK, and received her Temporary Teaching Certificate. During that time, she also worked at Adams Grain Elevator, Adams, OK and in Guymon, OK as Secretary of the Agricultural Extension Office. She then taught first and second grade at Adams, OK during the 1950-51 school year.

She married Donald R. Headrick on March 1, 1951 in Hardesty, Okla. He preceded her in death November 6, 2011.

She and Donald attended Range Community Church for a few years where she was the first president of the Range Missionary Group established in 1953. After moving to Elkhart, KS, she was a member of the Elkhart Bible Baptist Church for many years and then attended the First Baptist Church of Elkhart her later years. In the early 1950's, they operated a dairy at the farm near Hardesty, OK and she also worked at the Seward County Welfare Office in Liberal, KS. After moving to Elkhart, KS, they operated a dairy there. She was a homemaker and always helped Donald outside in addition to caring for the house and children. Mable made many of the clothes the family wore, and helped Donald build their own homes, barns, outbuildings, etc. Mable worked at Bultman Inc. from October, 1979, until 1983 when she went to work at Cargill Grain Elevator until the end of September, 1991. She cleaned the Bible Baptist Church for 10 years and the Elkhart Morton County Welfare Office for many years.

She is survived by her 7 children; 3 brothers; 2 sisters; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Banks, and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7th at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, Guymon, OK with the Rev. Harold Bollinger presiding. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, KS at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Richards presiding.
