In memory of ....... Charles John Bohlig.

You may be gone, no longer living on this earth; but you will live on - in the memories of your family and friends. There will always be a part of you living in me, your brother, sisters and those who knew you and loved you. You will live on because we remember you!

Charles (Chuck) John Bohlig Nov. 24, 1914~March 13, 2009.

Resident of Crockett, Charles was born on a cold Fresno, Montana morning on Nov. 24th in 1914.

He passed away on March 13th, 2009 in San Francisco following a brief illness.

Chuck's love for Montana never ceased. In 1939, with his new engineering degree from Montana State University, Chuck left the Big Sky Country in 1941 to work on Mare Island Naval Shipyard.

It was there Chuck first met his bride of 66 years, Bettie Bell of Crockett.

That special union led to a 40-year civil engineering career at C&H Sugar and years of local civic service.

Chuck Bohlig was a Lion's Club member for 39 years. He served on the Board of Directors of the John Swett Unified School District Board from 1963-1981. He and Bettie delivered Meals on Wheels in the surrounding area for 22 years. Chuck and Bettie both were the honored Grand Marshals of the Festival of the Straits 2001 parade. Chuck was a devout believer and life-long attendee of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The "reserved" Bohlig pew was understood and every week was occupied by Chuck and Bettie and their 5 children.

Chuck loved golf and actively played until he was 90! The retired years were ones of travel, from New Zealand to Ireland to Europe. A special trip to Rome to see and meet the Pope in 1986 was a life highlight for Chuck. And the yearly June excursions to Montana for MSU classmate reunions after which the many golf games and barbecues with his son John's Bitterroot Valley friends will never be forgotten.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettie, (Dec.17, 2008) and son, James (Dickie) (1969).

He is survived by children: Dickie's wife, Lenore Bohlig, John (Vicky) Bohlig, Michael Bohlig, Mary (John) Bowen and Larry (Litia) Bohlig; grandchildren: Brian (Tami) Bohlig, Colleen (John) Perez, James Bowen, Anna Bowen, Nicholas Bohlig and Jill (Kevin) Wentz; and great grandchildren: Christopher Perez, Alexander Perez, Emerson, Cooper and Sawyer Bohlig.

Typical to Chuck's humble and unassuming character, he insisted there be no public memorial and that, in lieu of flowers, he'd rather friends donate to charities of their choice.

A private family Mass and burial will be arranged by the Bohlig family and Father Dillon. Hosselkus Chapel (510) 799-1411
