Tuesday afternoon while butchering hogs Peter Johnson of Crooked lake, was accidentally shot and killed by his brother Erick. In order to expedite their work they decided to shoot one hog and Erick fired, but not killing the animal outright his brother took the ax and said he would complete the killing with it. As he got over the fence, Erick took the gun from his shoulder and in some way the other barrel was exploded and the charge struck his brother in the side and passed clear through his body, killing him almost instantly. Coroner Dr. McEwan was called but there was no doubt as to the death being accidental as both men were honest, upright and law abiding. The dead man was about 30 years old and leaves a widow and four children.
