Bertha Mae "Butchie" Klear, 84, of Glandorf, died 9:05 a.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015 at The Meadows of Ottawa. She was born January 17, 1931 in Defiance to the late Alva and Mabel (Dunkelbarger) Justus. On August 5, 1950, she married LeRoy "Nook" Klear, and he died November 3, 2004.
Survivors include 5 children: Terri "Teresa" (Tom Stewart) Leopold of Ottawa, Carol (John) Barlage of Miller City, Pam Wobler of Lima, Sharon (Roger) Phillips of Miller City and Jerry (Lori) Klear of Glandorf; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Glenna Schlegel of Wolcottville, IN.
She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters: Mary Dawson, Goldie Musser and Olive VanOss; and 3 brothers: Alva Justus Jr., Paul Justus and Edward Justus.
Butchie was a homemaker and loved to bake. She was famous for her sugar cookies. She was a member of First Church of God, Defiance and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Bavaria. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at LOVE FUNERAL HOME, Ottawa. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bavaria. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
