Funeral services were held Sunday for Steve A. Neer, 97, of Greenville. He died 06Apr at 4 p.m. at Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Rev. Robert Mallicoat officiated the services where were held at the Schildknecht & Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment was in Mt. Auburn cemetery, Greenville.
Born 27Oct1897 in Hickory Co., MO, he was the son of Stephen A. & Amanda E. (Burns) Neer. His 1st marriage was to Berniece Thorne 23Jun1919 in St. Louis. His 2nd marriage was to Thelma Johnson Greenwood 11Jul1953 in Woburn. She preceded in death 08Nov1990.
Survivors include a son, Robert Neer of Greenville; a daughter, Mrs. Dean (Nelda) Anthony of Greenville; 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; & 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Harold & Charles Neer, & 2 grandchildren preceded him in death.
Mr. Neer moved to Greenville with his family in 1909 & worked as an independent contractor most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Greenville.
