Dock Glen Lowber, 81, of Vandalia, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, 20Nov1996, at Cherrywood Health Care Center, Vandalia.
Services were to be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Visitation was to be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was to be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia with military rites observes at the graveside.
Mr. Lowber was born 17Jan1915, in Ramsey, the son of James Lowber & Annie Stine Lowber. He was a retired welder for Fiat-Allis Manugacturing Co., Springfield, for 28 years, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II & a member of Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #95, Vandalia. He married Elsie L. Elam on 05May1956, in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife of Vandalia; step-son, Russell Osborne of Ramsey; step-daughter, Selina Meador of Vandalia; 2 step-grandchildren & 5 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 5 sisters; & 2 step-grandchildren.
