Daughter of William & Sarah ( CLark) Hadley.
Wife of Eli Hale

"Ann Hadley is the daughter of William Hadley and Sarah Clark. She married Eli Hale, in 1823, and they had nine children, including a daughter named Mary (born 1835). Eli died in 1849, in Clarksville (Clinton County).

Ann was seen as a widow in the 1850 Census Report in Clarksville, raising six of her children (William, Louisa, Miles, Mary, Alfred, and Sarah). Her daughter Malinda was not living there—she married Henry Sherwood in 1865; her daughter Martha Jane was not living there—she may have died. Her daughter Caroline was not living there—she may have died also.

Ann's daughter Mary married Jonas Janney, around 1859, and they were seen in the 1860 Census Report, living in Waynesville, Ohio (Warren County). Mary's younger sister Sarah lived with them.

In the 1870 Census Report, Ann's daughter Mary was still living with Jonas, and she was living with them as well. By that time, Ann had remarried to a Mr. Johnson, but it appears that he had also died by the time census was taken. Mr. Johnson's first name is not yet known.

Ann's daughter Mary died in 1873. Jonas remarried to Elouisa Janney, in 1875; she was probably related to him. She must have died soon after, because Jonas got married for a third time, to Martha Brackin, on 5-20-1880, Warren County, Indiana.
Two weeks later, in the 1880 Census Report, Jonas was seen living with his third wife Martha. His mother-in-law from his first wife Mary Hale, which was Ann Hadley Hale Johnson, was still living with him, and she was identified in the report as being his "mother-in-law."

Jonas Janney died in 1902, and he was buried next to his first wife Mary Hale. His third wife Martha Brackin died in 1913, and she was buried in Belmont County, Ohio, next to her parents.

When Ann Hadley Hale Johnson died, her gravestone had her name as "Ann H. Johnson," because her second husband's last name was Johnson. We are still trying to find out who he was and what his first name is".
