Robert J. Dunne, 80, of Bartonville died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at his residence.

Born Oct. 24, 1922, in Peoria to Thomas and Margaret McDonough Dunne, he married Alice Burwell on June 27, 1958, in Peoria. She died Sept. 2, 1977, in Peoria.

He also was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Dunne of Orion and Rick (and Jan) Martindale of West Peoria; six daughters, Karen (and Steve) Hyman of Davenport, Iowa, Cheryl (and Tom) Sawvell of Orion, Susie (and Kevin) DeDobbalere of Taylor Ridge, Cindy (and Dave) Sakash of Bartonville, Terry SnyderSwank (and Bob Swank) of East Peoria and Mary (and Dave) Falco of Pekin; one brother, Tom (and Bonnie) of Memphis, Tenn.; and one sister, Marg Mackey of East Peoria.

He was a World War II Army Air Forces veteran.

He was a Peoria fireman who worked at the Central Fire Station for 10 years, until his disability from fire duty in 1960. He later worked in the parts department at Caterpillar Inc. in Morton for 14 years, retiring in 1985.

Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
