Cecil Hudson Bishop, 89, left his earthly home January 22, 2015, and stepped through Heaven's Gate to be with his Savior and Lord. He was born May 14, 1925 near Chehalis, Wash. to James and Marguerite Bishop.

Cecil grew up in the Siskiyou Mountains south of Ashland prior to his service in WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. After returning to the Rogue Valley , Cecil spent most of his life working in the area's lumber mills, retiring from Boise Cascade in the 1980's.

Cecil was involved in numerous aspects of the Lord's service while attending the Apostolic Faith Church, including choir, bus driver, ushering, and custodian.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Bessie Bishop; sons, Rick Bishop, Jerry Bishop, and Doug Bishop; daughters, Donna Miles, and Barbara Burney; step-daughter, Doris Robinson; step-son, Tim Burchfield; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Bishop and sister, Margaret Olson. Cecil was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda (Cassman) Bishop in September of 1975.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Apostolic Faith Church, 285 Sunrise Ave., Medford. Memorial service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
