Alice Barefield
Alice Nanine Barefield passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in a local hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bruce Austin and the Rev. David Haines officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park.

Born on June 22, 1916, in Mexia, to Nathaniel and Frances Waller, she was a source of strength and inspiration to those she touched. She married Alton J. Barefield on June 30, 1937.

She was preceded in death by her husband in Dec. 1994 and by her parents.

Mrs. Barefield was a homemaker and longtime member of Bellmead First Baptist Church. The ladies in her Sunday school were always very special to her. She was an angel in training, and on Jan. 11, she graduated.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Jordan of Elm Mott, Carol Glassie and husband Fred of Bedford; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Maurine Easterling; nieces and a nephew.

Mother, we will miss your sweet spirit and beautiful smile. We will strive to be children that will reflect the love and compassion you instilled in us. You held our hands for awhile, now you will forever hold our hearts.
