Henry Bruce Shroyer, 88, of New Windsor, a retired New Windsor postmaster, died Saturday, July 6, 1963, in Galesburg, Illinois, where he had been a patient since June 12, 1963. Henry was born January 22, 1875, in New Windsor, Illinois, a son of Johanna Whale (Powell) and William Hugh Shroyer.

He attended New Windsor schools. In 1917 he married Ethel Cooper in Chicago, IL. They had always resided in the New Windsor community. She died in 1959.

He was a member of the New Windsor United Presbyterian Church, had served as church treasurer for 23 years and also had served as an elder of the church He was a 50-year member and past master of the Oxford Lodge 367, AF & AM, in New Windsor.

He was postmaster at New Windsor 23 years retiring in October 1947. He also served on the village board and was secretary of the New Windsor school unit many years.

He is survived by a son, Robert Shroyer of Livermore, CA; two grandchildren, and two sisters, Lucy Barrett of East Moline and Myrtle Schroyer of Galesburg.
