John Campbell Jr., 81, of Danville died Wednesday (Jan. 28, 2015) at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center, Danville.

John was born on March 23, 1933 in Danville to John and Laverne (Combs) Campbell Sr. John married Lois Williamson on May 29, 1954, in Danville and the two have shared almost 61 wonderful years together.

Survivors also include two sons, Charles (Marilyn) Campbell and John (Mary) Campbell III; four daughters, Maryellen (Van) Peters, Susan (Phil) Wright, Judith (John) Lancaster and Laura Campbell; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Frances Carlson, Virginia Richter, Edna Ballard and Ruby Ashby.

He attended Hooton Grade School and Westville High School before entering the work force. John worked at Elliott Lumber for six years and at General Motors as a millwright for 27 years before his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, antique tractors, going to farm sales, and spending time with his family. John was a longtime attendant of Calvary Baptist Church in Danville.
