October 19, 1969:

Alva W. Lanham, 80 of 308 West Boulevard North, died 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Boone County Hospital.

Born July 30, 1889, he was the son of Cora M Baldridge and Hurley Monroe Lanham.

Mr. Lanham Married the late Rose A Williams on Sept. 26th, 1908.

A lifelong resident of Boone County, Mr.Lanham was a rural mail carrier who retired in 1959. He was a member of the Wilkes Boulevard Methodist Church.

Mr. Lanham is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harold Casteel, 1522 Business Loop 70 East; Mrs. Raymond R. Powell, 2500 Bluff Blvd.; Mrs Dan D. Bryson, Joplin; four sons, Andrew Lanham, 915 Bourn Ave.; Jack P. Lanham, Bozeman, Mont.; George W Lanham, Laramie, Wyo.; Monroe Lanham 409 Maupine Rd.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Arther C Fulbright, paster of Wilkes Boulevard Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Columbia Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Leo Jackson, Lowell Jackson, Virgil Thornton, Joe Bishop, J.B. Mahan and Bill Donaldson.
