Ralph G. Alexander, Sr. also known as "Sir Alex", "Alex", "Watergate" and "Mr. Alexander", was a native of Birch Grove, Grenada, WI. His parents were Camero Phillips and Liola Alexander. Ralph was raised by his paternal grandmother and aunt who he always spoke of with unyielding love and affection. HIs family migrated to Trinidad, WI when he was 13 years old. AFter secondary school he started his hotel career at the Trinidad Hilton. In 1968, the Trinidad Hilton sent him for training at Bluebeard's Castle in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Ralph was married twice and he has four chldren: Ralph Jr., Fitzgerald (Jesse), Felicia and Jason. He has six grandchildren. He married Janet Beckett on September 24, 1973 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Felicia and Jason were born to this union.

For over 30 years, Ralph has been employed in the hotel industry of the Virgin Islands on St. Thomas and St. Croix. He was Food and Beverage Manager of Grapetree Beach and Bay Hotel on St. Croix, and The Yacht Haven and Windward Passage on Hotel on St. Thomas. He managed the restaurant at Watergate Villas, Sparky's on the Waterfront adn Pizza Hut. He was the proprietor of Ralph's by the Sea in Crown Bay. Ralph loved his profession and the many waiters, waitresses, cooks, bartenders, bus boys and other staff that he trained and mentored in his career.

Ralph took his food and beverage skills to Carnival Village. He had a booth in the Village from 1976 to 1986 and was always in the top 10 most favorite booths in the village. In 1979, he won best booth in the village. He was the first booth owner in the history of the Carnival Village to sell pina colada and other blender drinks.

Ralph was a member of Independent Taxi Association that had its headquarters in Crown Bay. His taxi work was important to him as his hotel work. He was honest and able to give accurate information about St. Thomas to the tourists that he drove.

His declining health resulting in a diagnosis of heart was catastrophic for Ralph. He had two open heart surgeries and needed assistance daily. For the two past years he had been residing at Sea View Nursing Home. On July 24, 2011 he died of heart disease at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital.

FUNERAL INFORMATION
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Eastern Cemetery.
