Born July 16, 1938, at Wilson to Wiley Edmond and Bonnie Spencer Rhea, he died Jan. 30, 1998, at a Marietta hospital.
Rhea graduated from Marietta High School in 1956. He lived most of his life in Marietta after his military career. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a hospital corpsman and retired after 21 years of service. Rhea was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Rosabel Shell, of the home; four stepdaughters, Debbie Minchen, San Antonio, Texas, Marcy Hogan, Trenton, Texas, Gloria Einhorn, Sugar Land, Texas and Andrea McMullen, Houston; one brother, Bobby Joe Rhea, Bedford, Texas; and three sisters, Wylene Wallace and Melba Williams, both Marietta, and Laura Welch, Kansas City, Mo.
Bearers are Jack Jones, Steve Vetoyanis, Mike Welch, Eddie Wallace, Scott Welch and Barry Gantt. Honorary bearers are members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, Fort Worth, Texas.
