Son of Bezaliel Barton and Hannah Powers (later wife of Otis Cooper), husband of Mary Ann Pike, whom he married on October 3, 1839, in Newport, Sullivan, New Hampshire, and father of Ira Barton.

Husband of Elizabeth F. Jewett, whom he married on August 25, 1852, in Newport, Sullivan, New Hampshire, and father of Herbert J., Charles Freemont, Ralph Winter, Leander M., Florence Frances, Nathaniel Lincoln, and Jessie Marston Barton.

Obituary - Newport, N.H., March 11 - Hon. Levi W. Barton, at one time the most prominent lawyer and leader of the Republican party of this state, is dead, aged 81. He was a graduate of Dartmouth and held a great many state offices.
