NORFOLK - L. D. Hobbs, 43, of 1163 Landing St. died Tuesday in a Jacksonville, N.C., hospital after a short illness.

He worked 13 years for T. A. Loving Construction Co., Goldsboro, N.C.

A native of Wilson, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Clara Mae Hobbs and a son of Mrs. Mollie Hobbs and the late Calvin Hobbs.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church, Greene County, N.C., and an Army veteran of World War II.

Besides his widow and mother, surviving are four sons, Nathaniel Hobbs, Curtis Hobbs, Charlie Hobbs, and Tyrone Hobbs, and two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Tyson and Miss Dorethia A. Hobbs, all of Norfolk; five brothers, Frank Hobbs of Wilson, Toney Hobbs of Long Island, N.Y., Elvin Hobbs of Fort Knox, Ky., and Cleotis Hobbs and Charlie Hobbs of Newark, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Brown and Mrs. Mollie Howell of Wilson and Miss Deloris Hobbs of Newark; and three grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Hale Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J L. Kearney. Burial with full military honors will be in Jones Memorial Park.
