He is the first (Ratzlaff). His first name is unknown. He was a Swedish soldier who, on hearing a sermon, stuck his sword into a hedgpost and broke it in half and subsequently joined our religion through baptism. He married the daughter of Aeltester Voth of Kulm. He was possibly a Swede soldier of the Thirty Years Wars 1618–1648.

A rough draft sheet in the Alexanderwohl records indicates that he was married three times, and that his son Berent was from the 1st. marriage, son Hans from the second, and the rest of the children from the third. He was quite rich, and was a deacon
