Miss Martha Evans married Alva Starkey on 3 March 1887 and the couple moved to Paris, Texas. Later they moved to Indian Territory. He and his wife in 1922 with their son, E.E. Starkey organized and operated a dry goods firm in Seymour and surrounding towns. The couple retired in 1935.
Survived by his wife; children - Mrs. C.E. Henderson, Ernest Eugene Starkey, John Elmer Starkey; one brother - John Starkey; two sisters - Mrs. Ella Frontman and Mrs. Rosa Shubert.
