Nathan Apgar, 88 years old, of High Bridge, died in Somerset Hospital from burns received when he suffered a dizzy spell while tending a bonfire and fell on the blaze. The aged man had been helpingn to clear up the property of Dr. John J. Rufe when stricken.

Mr. Apgar, familiarly known as "Uncle Nate," was an uncle of Mayor Irving W. Apgar and Elmer Apgar. He is survived by a brother, David L. Apgar, of High Bridge, and two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd Bowlby, of Hampton, and Mrs. Lida Felmly, of Newark.
