Billy Gene Burchett the son of William Calvin and Mable (Chinn) Burchett was born October 2, 1939 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on January 25, 2015 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 23 days.

Bill grew up in the Tahlequah area and attended Tahlequah Schools. He worked as a mechanic most of his life. He worked at Swinson Chevrolet for many years also Success Motor Company and Tahlequah Public Schools before retiring.

Bill was a simple man and enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed drinking his coffee every morning and talking with his buddies. He loved spending time outside. He was a true car trader that enjoyed getting a car and fixing it up. Bill touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him including his little dog “Boots”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Alice Faye Burchett; 3 sisters; 3 brothers and 1 great-great granddaughter.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife Norma Burchett of the home; his children Jerry Don Burchett and wife Leslie and Charles Ray Hougland and wife Laurie all of Tahlequah; his sister Neomie Mallory of Tracy, CA; his brother Cecil Burchett of Monterey, CA; special niece and nephews Jeff and Sharon Mullins and Robbie Carr; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Many other nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.

There will be a gathering for friends and family following the services at the Cherokee Nation Community Room located in the former Cherokee Nation Motel Ballroom.
