Orlando Melanethon Marks was the son of Jabez Marks 1803 and Permelia.

Orlando married Asenath Altena Diefendorf, the daughter of Daniel Diefendorf 1813 and Ann Eliza Hackney, in 1875.

The couple lived in Roseboom and Maryland in Otsego County. They had two children: Clinton James 1886 and Clarence Orlando 1883.
