Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Francis Matthew Hebert, age 20, who passed away Friday, January 23, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. at University of Alabama Hospital In Birmingham.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Robert Sullivan, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham will officiate at the services. Readers will be Lindsey C. Palmer and Nicholas Newton. Giftbearers will be Carmen Thibodeaux and Megan S. Williams.

Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jagneaux, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. Songs will be You Are My Sunshine, Amazing Grace, Ava Maria, One Bread, One Body, On Eagle’s Wings, Here I Am Lord and This Little Light of Mine.

Francis Matthew was a native of Carencro and had been a resident of Birmingham, Alabama since 2011. He had been employed with L’Occitane Store and Birmingham Museum of Art. He was gifted at a young age with the ability to express himself through art as well as his written works. He held appreciation for anything with artistic value. Francis Matthew’s creative boundaries were endless. His devotion to his family and friends was unmeasurable. He took much pride in being an older brother, offering guidance and advice when needed. He always had compassion, love and respect for his mother, and all that they had experienced together as a family. The happiness and love of his family and friends, and the memories that they made together were treasured in his heart forever.

Maternal survivors include his mother, Valerie Anne Labbe, Bruce Compton, and brother Nicholas Newton all of Birmingham, AL; one aunt, Celeste L. Thibodeaux and husband, Craig, of Parks; and one uncle, Gregory A. Labbe and wife, Pam, of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, T.J. Labbe, Jr. and grandmother, most beloved “Maw” Anna Mae "Tut" Maraist Labbe.

Paternal survivors in include his father, Jai Bennett Hebert of Ossun; grandparents, Calvin and Cecile Hebert of Carencro; three aunts, Lynne Baudoin and her husband Keith of Erath, Virginia Haven and her husband Michael of Gastonia, N.C., and Joy Mayer and her husband, Brian of Houston, one uncle, Murray Hebert of Carencro.

A rosary will be prayed at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. A second rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. Robert Sullivan in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Francis Matthew Hebert’s name may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Scholarship Fund (MAGIS Fund) in C/O Rev.
