Edna L. Midcap, 88, Chanute, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at the Heritage Healthcare Center in Chanute.
She was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Woodbine, Iowa, to Horace and Lola Straight Kuykendall.
She married James R. Midcap on March 23, 1941, in Chanute. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2001.
She was a nurse with Dr. Henry K. Baker's office for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chanute.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Gene Reinhardt, Chanute; four grandchildren and their spouses, Alan Midcap, Columbus, Eric and Kristiana Reinhardt, Waco, Texas, Robin and Jeff Saferite, Fairfax Station, Va., and Debra Morrison, Kansas City, Mo.; a great-grandson, Jack Reinhardt; and a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Robert Riegle, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Frederick "Fred" Midcap; and a brother, Jack Kuykendall.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Cherry Street Youth Center in care of the funeral home.
