Myrtle I. Callison, 82, a resident of Friendship Manor, died of a stroke Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Reese Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Richard Miller-Todd, interim pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Memorials in Mrs. Callison's name may be made to the Kellogg United Methodist Church and the Kellogg Historical Society.

Mrs. Callison, who had spent most of her life in Kellogg, had worked as a press operator at Midwest Manufacturing. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a charter member of the Kellogg Historical Society.

She was married to Joseph R. Callison Dec. 23, 1929.

She moved to Newton in 1972 and lived there until 1988 when she became a resident of Friendship Manor.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne of Grinnell and Dale of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters, Norma Fanning of Kellogg, Karen Cumming of Shenandoah, Judy Parsons of Kellogg and Reva Duggins of Ridgecrest, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Benson of Grinnell; and three sisters, Florence White of Grinnell, Wilma Thompson of Newton and Lois Perry of Eldon, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Warren; and five brothers, Glen, Merle, Louis, Kenneth and one in infancy.

Grinnell-- Funeral services for Myrtle I. Benson Callison, 82 of Friendship Manor in Grinnell and former resident of Kellogg and Newton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Reese Chapel in Newton.

The Rev. Richard Miller-Todd, interim pastor of the Kellogg United Methodist church, will conduct services. Burial will be held in Our Silent Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Kellogg United Methodist church or the Kellogg Historical Society will be accepted.

Mrs Callison died Wednesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital after suffering a stroke.

Survivors are two sons, Wayne of Grinnell and Dale of Norfolk, Va; four daughters, Norma (Mrs. James) Fanning and Judy (Mrs. Daryle) Parsons, both of Kellogg, Karen (Mrs. Max) Cumming of Shenandoah and Reva Duggins of Ridgecrest, Calif.; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Callison had moved to Newton in 1972 and to Grinnell in 1988.
