Violet was the daughter of Frank Hoover and Clara (Kensinger?) Hoover, both of whom were born in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.

Clarence Hawk and Violet Hoover were married in Dauphin County and had one child, son Robert B. Hawk. Violet's life was cut short upon her unexpected death from Spanish Influenza at Harrisburg Hospital, 3rd.

Clarence remarried in about 1923 and together with his new wife had a daughter, Betty Jean.
