Elva Rosella “Podie” Ayers, age 94, of Quincy, died on January 23, 2015 at 5:20 am in Blessing Hospital.
She was born July 27, 1920 in La Belle, Missouri the daughter of Fred and Maude Shirley Claus. On January 12, 1946 she married Wade Frederick Ayers in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2004.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Henry, Ray, Vernon and Dannie Claus, and three sisters, Ruby Wingfield, Dorothy Richmond and Vera Border.
Graveside Service: 11:15 am on Monday, January 26, 2015 in Greenmount Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Graham officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, January 25, 2015 and 10:00 to 11:00 am on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
