William Jenkins Harmar was one of the children born to Charles Harmar and his wife Josephine LaCoste Nielson. William attended Yale University and was the champion intercollegiate mile-runner of the United States for two years.
William was united in marriage on October 9, 1889 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Juanita Howard Reed. William and Juanita were blessed with the birth of at least two children during their short 4 year marriage:
