Lane M. Shephard, Jr. SUMMERVILLE - Lane M. Shephard, Jr., 89, of Summerville, husband of Gertrude (Fryar) Shephard, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Summerville Medical Center. Friends and family may call on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock PM at Salem Baptist Church, 321 Old Summerville Road, Summerville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2 o'clock PM at Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Lane was born on July 9, 1925 in Charleston, SC son of the late Lane M. Shephard, Sr. and Georgia W. Shephard. He served as Chief for the St. Andrews and James Island Fire Department. He retired from US Naval Engineering Command Center as an inspector. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife Gertrude are: four sons: Steven L. Shephard, Sr. of Ladson, Randy Shephard (Linda) of Cordesville, Jerry Shephard (Cindy) of Summerville and David Shephard (Lisa) of Ridgeville; one daughter: Tammy Shephard Slade (Kevin) of Lynchburg, VA; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. www.jamesadyal.com.
