I have never seen this man's name in any record other than as William. There was a John Hightower who moved into Monroe County, Tennessee about the time William arrived in McMinn County, Tennessee. It is my opinion these men were brothers. If so it is very unlikely William would have ever been known as John William Hightower.
The parents nor siblings of William and John Hightower of McMinn and Monroe counties are not known. Some have listed one George Washington Hightower as their father. I have never found any evidence or proof of same.
I do however invite comment on anything I have inserted into this Bio of William Hightower.
