Joyce was born on February 28, 1930, in Long Beach, Calif. Her parents, William McKinley Nelson and Idabelle Mae (Brown) Nelson had driven a Model T to California for a friend. They ended up working in the oil fields in California until Joyce was born. The family then packed up and headed back to Thermopolis.
Joyce graduated from Hot Springs County High School in the class of 1947. She then went on to graduate at the top of her class from Blair Business College in Colorado Springs, Colo. Upon graduation Joyce returned to Thermopolis and married Robert (Bob) Richardson. Bob and Joyce moved to Bozeman, Mont. where Bob pursued his degree from Montana State University. After graduation Joyce, Bob and their three children moved back to Thermopolis and took over the family plumbing business. Richardson Plumbing was an institution in Thermopolis and Joyce ran the business until her retirement in 2003.
Joyce was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Gala Goodwin) Richardson; grandchildren, Amber (Wes) Gottula Meier, Jared (Crystal) Gottula, Kelly (Richard) Richardson Elmore, and Adam Richardson; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Allee, Kelsey, Brayden, Michael, Logan, Erica, Jeffery, and Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Eric Richardson; daughter Nancy Gottula; and grandson Robert Gottula.
