Bernard “Bernie” Ahern was born at St. Ignatius, Montana, on February 18, 1934, the son of William Ahern and Frances Geary. He graduated from Arlee High School in 1952 and the following year enlisted in U.S. Air Force. After four years in the service he enrolled at the University of Montana and then went to work for Mountain Bell/AT&T. He retired in 1989.
Bernie was making his home at Lolo, Montana, when he died on May 30, 2004. Funeral services were held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Missoula. He was survived by his wife, two children and three grandchildren; also, one sister, Clara (Reynoldson). He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Francis; and three sisters, Ellen (Woods), Mary (Flynn) and Madeline.
