On June 10, 1956, Della was married to Frank Ahern at Missoula, Montana. They lived in Missoula, Lolo and Alberton in Montana, before moving to Spokane, Washington, in 1989. They had four children, two sons and two daughters. Della worked for the U.S. Postal for 30 years. She moved to Great Falls, Montana, after she retired in 1996.
Della died at Great Falls on October 19, 1998. Her death was caused by an accidental fall. Funeral services were held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Missoula. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Missoula. She was survived by her children and nine grandchildren; her parents; two brother, Russell and Phillip; and a sister, Nancy (Piche). She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1993.
