Kathryn “Kate” Gow was born at Florence, Montana, on February 17, 1922. She was the daughter of Robert Gow and Agnes Luby. She was raised on her parents’ farm in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley and attended school in Florence.
On September 12, 1941, Kate was married to William “Joe” Ahern at Stevensville, Montana. They made their home at Lolo, Montana, where they raised their three children. Kate’s husband died in 1986.
Kate eventually moved to Missoula, Montana; she died at an assisted living facility there on March 2, 2008. Funeral services were held in Missoula, with inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Missoula. Kate was survived by her two sons and seven grandchildren; also, her sister Viola (Wark). In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter Agnes (Kahler); two brothers, Robert and Leonard; and her sister Betty.
