Irene remarried after Joseph died. She married Stephen P Csete about 1968.∼Phelps - Mrs. Irene I. Zaso Csete, age 97, died on Tuesday (March 4, 2014) at the Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
Friends may call on Friday (March 7) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home, 70 Main Street, Phelps. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Irene's son-in-law Todd Daningburg officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in the Spring.
Mrs. Csete was born on November 13, 1916, in Geneva, NY, the daughter of the late Newton and Lena Gittens Backus. She was a hard working woman and worked on the family farm. She enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzle books.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years Stephen Csete; children Glenn (Joan) Zaso of Phelps, Janet (Dave) Fremouw of North Rose, Stephen (Donna) Csete of Rome, William Csete of Phelps, Anne (David) Katz of Canton, N.Y., Jeanne (Todd) Daningburg of Warsaw; sister Bernice Barnes of Clifton Springs; two brothers, Roy (Neva) Backus of Phelps, Carl (Angela) Backus of Fairville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by brothers Donald, Lester and Claude, son Edward Csete.
