Maude Mae Isaacs Marlowe

Maude Mae Isaacs Marlowe was born to Aaron Wesley Isaacs and Martha Alice Ashley Isaacs as thier sixth child of ten children born.

The family were living in Mitchell County, NC at the time Maude was born. (then Linville). Siblings were Charlie McCoy "Coy", Martin Brownlow "Brown", Cozy Jane, Sara Annar, Sadie Alverta, "Bertie" or Bertha L., Burnett, Earl, and Maggie. Burnett was born in Avery Co. and Earl and Maggie were born in Carter Co. Tennessee where the family lived for a few years. Around 1928, the family moved to MoDowell County, North Carolina.

Maude Mae married Dexter "Deck" Marlowe and they resided in the Glenwood Community, near Marion, North Carolina. Maude and "Deck" had three children; Ruby Rebecca, b 1931, Glenn Edward Marlowe, SR, b 1935, and Jack Wayne Marlowe, born 1940.

Maude was a great seamtress, as she could design and make most anything. She worked some in a shop for awhile, but later did all her work at her home. The ladies of the town knew what great work she did, so they would want her to sew for them and thier family. Maude's husband was unable to work for many years, so Maude made most of thier income by sewing. Her husband passed away twenty years before her passing. She continued to sew until her eyes and health would no longer permit her to do so. She lost her eye sight sometime before her death.

She was my Aunt, so I remember one ocassion, when she had me over to spend the night and she cut out and made me a new dress in just a few minutes while I was there for the night. It meant so much to me..I can still picture it, as to what it looked like.

Aunt Maude was a very soft spoken person and a very sweet lady. She and my Mother, Maggie, were real close as sister's even though there were a few years difference in thier ages, as my Mother was the youngest of the family. My Mother missed her so much when she passed away.

Aunt Maude and her husband are buried closeby to where my Grandparents are buried at The Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, N.C.

My appreciation to Anita for providing a photo of my Aunt Maude's and Uncle "Decks' Marker Stone for their memorial pages that I have contributed to FaG in thier memory.
