Ellis was born in Yakima WA to Arthur James Fletcher and Vesta Pyburn. In 1901 when Ferry Co. was opened for settlement Ellis and some of his family relocated there. By 1916 he and his sister Effie were living in Cordova Alaska where their sister Lillian also lived. On Sep 4 1918 Ellis and Effie were aboard the SS Princess Sophia
for the journey from Juneau to Prince Rupert BC. An added note - The Sophia sank near Juneau on 25 Oct 1918
with all 343 or more lives lost. Ellis and Effie both settled in the Smithers -Telkwa area joining brothers Eli and Mason. Ellis died after surgery at Smithers Hospital on May 12 1928.

Ellis A. Fletcher Failed to Survive
Operation Necessitated By
Stomach Trouble.

Ellis Arthur Fletcher, who has resided
in the Quick district for about three years,
died in the Smithers Hospital on Saturday night.
For some time the late Mr. Fletcher had been
afflicted with stomach ailments, this became acute
during the past two weeks. On Saturday he was
admitted to hospital , where an operation was
performed in the evening from which the patient
failed to rally.

The late Mr. Fletcher was born in
Yakima , Washington , 49 years ago,
coming to this province from Alaska in 1919.
He is survived by two brothers , Eli and Mason, and by a sister.

The funeral services on Tuesday were conducted
at the Jones undertaking parlors , a large number
of neighbours from the Quick section being present at the funeral.
Burial took place in Smithers Cemetery.
