Lyle C. Stokesbary, 88, of Bremerton died July 12, 2002, of congestive heart failure at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale. He had been a Silverdale resident for 56 years. He was born Feb. 20,1914, in Corwith, Iowa to Clint and Ada Stokesbary. He married Vivian Burton on June 18, 1950. She preceded him death in 2000. Mr. Stokesbary served in the Army from 1945 to 1948, achieving the rank of master sergeant. He received his GED through Bremerton High School in 1952. He went to work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years, retiring as chief fire inspector in 1972. Mr. Stokesbary was a mason and a member of the Methodist church. He enjoyed hiking in the Olympic Mountains.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred and two brothers, Burt and Glenn.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Kitsap Golf and Country Club, 3885 Glof Club Hill Road in Bremerton. Memorial donations may be made to Jackson Hall Memorial Association(Silverdale Scout Hall), P.O. Box 1489, Silverdale, WA 98383
