Barbara Denton

1947-2015

Barbara Denton, a retired occupational therapist with Sacred Heart, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at age 67. Born in Little Rock, AR in 1947 to Norwood and Carolyn Jones, Ms. Denton graduated high school in McComb, MS, later obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Education. After nearly twenty years of teaching, Ms. Denton left to pursue a career in occupational therapy. She returned to her home town of Little Rock, AR, receiving her degree in Occupational Therapy from Hendrix College in 1993.

Ms. Denton was a member of the United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her father, a United Methodist Minister; a sister, Fernan Legner; a brother, Charles Jones; and a niece Tina Legner. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Jones; a brother, Norwood Jones II; a son, Shawn Denton; a daughter, Carolyn Meyer; two grandsons, Nolan and Rayce; and her life partner, Charles Ohm.

Her family is planning a service in the spring in Little Rock to spread her ashes in accordance with her wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ms. Denton's name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation: http://www.bcrfcure.org/.
