SUTHERLAND Robert E. died peacefully January 17, 2014 after a brief illness. He was 93 years old. Born in Boston he lived in Dorchester until moving to Canton in 1966. Robert was a proud Veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star for his actions during the D-Day invasion. He worked as an electrician for the MBTA until retiring in 1986. Robert was a member of IBEW local #103, and was active in the Masons and Shriners. Devoted husband of the late Dorothea Sutherland (Thornton). Loving father of Dorothy Sutherland of Canton and the late Janice Souza and the late June Sutherland. Brother of the late Donald Sutherland and the late Dorothy Clarkson. Loving grandfather of Danelle Moriarty and Daniel Souza of Canton. Proud great-grandfather of Darin, Casey, Collin, Riley Moriarty and Kalynn Souza. Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, CANTON, Monday January 20, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. 6:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Funeral Service celebrating his life will be Tuesday in the United Church of Christ, 1541 Washington Street, Canton at 11:00 A.M. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park.
