Our “Pops”, Arthur Paul Steiner, 88, of Luther Ridge in Middletown, formerly of East Hartford and Orlando, FL, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Middlesex Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born August 23, 1926 in Jenera, OH, the son of the late Gottleib and Rosine (Heck) Steiner. Art graduated from Rawson High School where he was recruited to play football at the collegiate level. He was immediately called up in the draft and joined the Maritime Services. A Veteran of WWII, Art served with the US Navy on the USS Sirago and Trumpetfish.

His service to our country led him to Groton, CT where he met the love of his life, Ruth E. Schenk. They were married in May 1948 and enjoyed 54 years of marriage prior to Ruth’s death in 2002.

Art was the proud owner of Founder Plaza Shell in East Hartford for many years and Skylake Shell and Union Park Shell in Orlando. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and UCONN Huskies.

Arthur’s greatest gifts were his kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and unwavering faithfulness to his God, his family and his friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., Grace Lutheran Church, 1055 Randolph Rd., Middletown, CT.
