Maxine Dobbs Hickey, 88, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015.

Maxine was born in the Waples community near Granbury on Aug. 6, 1926, to Martha Wohlford Dobbs and Fred Dobbs.

The family moved to Bluff Dale where Maxine attended school.

She married Ruble Winston Hickey, the love of her life, on Oct. 8, 1942. They relocated to Fort Worth in the mid-1940s. Maxine was a homemaker and cared for children of working parents for years. She enjoyed sewing and made most of her daughters' clothes as well as clothes for their dolls. In the 1960s Maxine attended Brantley Draughn Business College and attained a secretarial position with Texas Refinery Corp. of Fort Worth. After several years, Maxine entered into the legal profession where she worked for several firms as a legal secretary until her retirement in 1990. Maxine joined the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1946 and attended faithfully for 66 years until health issues limited her ability to participate. Her faith remained strong.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Fred Dobbs; her siblings, Inez Dobbs, Wayne Dobbs and LaVelle Norris; her first infant baby girl; her foster daughter, Charmaine Holmes; and her husband of 64 years, Ruble Winston Hickey.

Survivors: Daughters, Diane Hickey Harber and husband, Tom, of Fort Worth and Joy Hickey Denny and husband, Bill, of Grapevine; grandchildren, Stephanie Millsap, Bari Davidson, Winston Denny, Andrew Denny; and great-grandchildren, Jesse Millsap, Aiden Millsap, Liam Denny and Evelyn Denny.
