He was born March 4, 1918, in Gallia County, son of the late John W. and Ethel (Towns) Martin. Edward was a farmer and lifelong resident of Gallia County.
He attended Bell Chapel Community Church as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by one daughter, Cindy Maynard Bryant, and her husband, Greg; a great-granddaughter, Jaycee Maynard; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn Maynard; one brother, Morris (Audrey) Martin; and five sisters, Fern (Raymond) Buckley, Elva (Millard) Grube, Loris (Lawrence) Barlow, Mildred (Herbert) Monroe and Faye Martin.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at Willis Funeral Home with the Rev. Truman Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Neal Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral.
